Dean of the College of Business

The University of Wyoming invites nominations, applications, and expressions of interest for the position of Dean of the College of Business. Nominees and applicants from diverse backgrounds are most welcome. The Dean, who reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and is assisted by two Associate Deans, is responsible for all aspects of academic life within the College, including teaching, research, personnel matters, and budgets.  The successful candidate will possess outstanding leadership skills and the ability to serve as an articulate and zealous representative of, and advocate for, the College’s programs, locally, in Wyoming, as well as nationally and internationally.  The Dean will lead fundraising efforts for the College and will enhance partnerships with businesses throughout Wyoming and beyond.
Located in Laramie, with a population of 30,000, nestled on the high plains between two ranges of the Rocky Mountains in southeastern Wyoming, the University of Wyoming is a land grant institution of truly distinctive character.  As the only public four-year institution of higher learning in Wyoming, the University enjoys a leadership role in the state and region.  UW draws approximately 13,000 students in undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programs. Among its assets are a heritage of strong public support, unparalleled statewide presence, remarkable geographic setting, and a profound commitment to explore, create, and share knowledge.
The College of Business is comprised of approximately 80 faculty and staff and over 1,300 students in three departments:  Accounting, Economics and Finance, and Management and Marketing. The College is housed in a technologically advanced LEED Gold certified building that opened in 2010. The College offers AACSB-accredited programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have an advanced degree, significant experience in management of complex organizations and an established record in teaching, research, and service or equivalent experience sufficient to merit the rank of full professor in one of the College’s departments.  Further, the successful candidate must demonstrate principled ethical leadership and excellent communications skills. Preferred qualifications include a demonstrated track record of working collaboratively, proven experience in seeking and fostering internal and external partnerships and enhancing financial resources, and proven experience in leading strategic and focused growth initiatives.  The successful candidate should have demonstrated examples of innovation and managing effective change.
