Microsoft .NET C# Developer

UNICEF is currently undertaking a large scale migration and redevelopment of its knowledge management solutions into Microsoft technologies. The Microsoft .NET C# Developer will develop enterprise web applications that will be deployed in a Sharepoint 2010 environment.
These applications will encompass a wide variety of performance feedback and standardised reporting applications, as well as workflow oriented applications for the request of various services within and between departments.
The C# / .NET Developer will assess user requirements and lead the design, development and testing of SharePoint based C# / .NET business applications, focusing on the UNICEF Country Office Annual Reports.
The C# / .NET Developer will also provide on-the-job mentoring to in-house C# / .NET developers. The scope of duties to accomplish these tasks is as follows:
• Participate in the assessment of customer requirements, determine technical feasibility and document results
• Draft technical specifications based on functional requirements
• Develop applications based on UNICEF development and design standards. Integration with UNICEF taxonomy may be required. All applications should be searchable using SharePoint search
• Perform tests according to a given test plan and document results
• Assist in the creation and enhancement of design and development standards
• Provide custom scripting, creating wireframes, and graphic design
• Responsible for the design, creation and implementation of custom webparts, .NET user controls,
• Ensure in depth application testing and integrate quality into all work
• Provide draft user and technical application documentation.
The skills and experience required for this assignment are:
• Minimum five years or more developing enterprise web applications.
• Experience of working within a team following agile type development approaches
• Ability to be self-starter and to work with minimum supervision
• Good communicator
• Experience of a multi-cultural and gender sensitive work environment
• Core technical skills are MS Visual Studio, C#, .Net framework, web services (WCF/SOAP), understanding of the Sharepoint API
• Additional desirable skills are MS Forms, SQL Server, Sharepoint 2010 (including webparts and workflows).
Hours of Work: The selected candidate is expected to work 7 hours/day.
Duration of the Consultancy: Estimated 11 Months
