The Global Trade and Supply Chain Department was created in 2010 to build on the success of IFC’s flagship trade program, GTFP. The department manages all of IFC’s trade finance related products and programs and develops new products for the benefit of all IFC clients, with particular focus on businesses serving the manufacturing and agribusiness sectors. 

The Global Trade and Supply Chain department has 1 vacancy in its Business Development division for a Trade Finance Officer to support the Latin America (LAC) team with the work program related to the Global Trade Finance Program (GTFP) and business origination for other trade products such as Warehouse Finance, Structured Trade Finance, Supply Chain, Distributor Finance and Risk Sharing Facilities.

If the selected candidate is a current Bank Group staff member with a Regular or Open-Ended appointment, s/he will retain his/her Regular or Open-Ended appointment. All others will be offered a renewable term appointment.
Duties and Accountabilities:
• Identify market opportunities for Trade and Supply Chain products and work closely with product leads in developing market appropriate solutions. Support the structuring, credit assessment, documentation and product delivery as required;

• Develop tri-partite relationships (IFC-Bank partner-Corporate) to facilitate delivery of local working capital solutions to client;

• Maintain existing and establish new relationships with GTFP prospect partner banks and remain engaged with them to meet all their Trade and Short Term Finance needs. This will include:

o Respond within 24 hours to requests from local banks for GTFP related transactions;

o Monitor trade lines and ensure that exposures booked are within bank credit limits and are consistent with all corporate guidelines;

o Conduct operational reviews of potential partner banks covering aspects like trade business profile, operational controls risks, systems, procedures, skill set of trade processing staff and prepare formal trade appraisal report with technical opinion for submission in investment review meetings;

o Establish and maintain contacts with banks active in the field of trade finance and stay abreast of market developments to proactively set pricing, manage risks taken in the portfolio and disseminate knowledge and experience within team and to Financial Market team members in LAC.
Selection Criteria:
Minimum 5–8 years experience in trade finance / structured commodity finance with a leading local or international commercial bank 

• Excellent knowledge of commercial banking products and services, experience in correspondent banking relationships and international trade products;

• High level of structuring capability especially in Warehouse Financing, Supply Chain, Buyer & Supplier Credit and Structured Commodity Finance;

• Strong financial and credit skills along with analytical ability;

• Advanced degree required, MBA from leading institutions preferred;

• Strong team work, organizational, negotiation, marketing and presentation skills;

• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues from various cultural backgrounds;

• Ability to interact directly and independently with management of potential clients, financial and technical partners as well as government officials;

• Highly motivated and capable of working under time pressure;

• Fluency in English and Spanish is essential. Fluency in Portuguese is desirable. 

• Willingness to travel extensively in the LAC region is required.
