WaterAid America , Chief Executive Officer

WaterAid America (WAA) is seeking its next CEO.  Based in New York City, WAA is a leading international non-profit organization working with local partners to deliver safe water, sanitation, and hygiene education to impoverished and vulnerable people living in many of the world’s poorest countries.  WAA is a member of WAi together with the UK, Australia, Sweden and Canada. Each member country has its own Board of Directors and the Chairs of each form the Board of WAi.  Established in 2004, WAA mobilizes resources in the U.S. to support work undertaken by WaterAid’s 27 country programs across Africa, Asia and the South Pacific – as well as one country program in Nicaragua which WAA manages.  WAA also manages a Policy and Advocacy Program from its office in Washington. 
WaterAid’s global work is projected to directly provide water and sanitation services to 25 million people by 2015 and indirectly benefit 100 million through its policy and advocacy work.  WaterAid America has grown significantly in the past three years – from $3.7 million in revenues in FY 2009-2010 to $7.8 million in FY 2012-2013. WAA aims to double its revenues by 2018.
Reporting to the WAA Board of Directors, the CEO will lead all aspects of the organization, including administrative and fiduciary oversight, fundraising activities, external relations, marketing, personnel and program development.  In close collaboration with the Board, the CEO will define the strategy and direction for WAA as it continues to develop and grow. 
We seek an individual of significant accomplishment who has a demonstrated record of leadership and success in the not-for-profit, business or public sector.  He/she must display a high-level of cultural astuteness and have good experience of understanding and working with NGOs.  The CEO will have a passion for the mission of WaterAid and a commitment to the values of this global organization.  At a minimum, we seek an individual with at least 15 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree.
