Equipment Life Cycle Specialist

The position would directly report to Global Manager, Lifetime Support Services, below please refer to the job description:
Job Purpose:
  • To develop and maintain equipment maintenance plans, maintenance strategies and indicative operating cost models for new and existing fleet of Sandvik equipment.

Key performance areas:
  • Develop maintenance and repair strategies through the practice of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM2) principles while using the Availability Workbench (AWB) software for developing maintenance strategies.
  • Provide accurate maintenance parts lists from AWB to TSD’s to insure that Sandvik’s global item master is accurately reflected with “the right maintenance parts”.
  • Provide accurate maintenance parts lists (as above) to the documentation parts writer in order to reflect “the right maintenance parts” in the parts manuals.
  • Provide the maintenance strategies to the documentation instruction writer in order to reflect “the right maintenance strategies” in the instruction manuals.
  • Maintain existing Current Product Engineering CPE models (high install base) in Predictive Operating Cost (POC) templates archived in ST. Downloads
  • Responsible for creation of equipment maintenance strategies that leads to equipment lifecycle cost (LCC) models.
  • Working closely with product line Reliability Specialist to collect and analyse information on the equipment reliability of parts and components. Update relevant equipment models to reflect component/parts “real operating results” in field.
  • Use the results from the analyzed information in conjunction with other sources (i.e. end users, regional contacts, asset agreements engineering, OEM’s etc.) to determine best practices in Sandvik’s maintenance/repair strategies (as applied in the RCM2 Facilitation Cost model of the AWB reliability strategies software) .
  • Report on reliability/LCC issues and makes recommendations for improvements to product designs.
  • Facilitate/participate in Defect Elimination projects to determine the inherent reliability of a part, component or system and develop the required maintenance strategies to ensure that MTBF’s targets are achieved.
  • Input all data into the AWB reliability software library.
  • Apply the RCM2 principles in determining the required actions to maintain the desired level of reliability, LCC using the AWB reliability strategies software.
  • Participate in equipment LCC tender preparations as required
  • Regular meetings with Reliability specialists, R&D Engineering to highlight and discuss ‘Top 10’ reliability issues.
  • Ongoing discussion and participation in all NPD project meetings relating to design reliability
  • Ensure each new unit has an RCMCost and relating Maintenance strategy and EOM prior to shipment
  • Develop AWB database in accordance with key accountabilities

  • Demonstrated experience in root cause analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in equipment life cycle cost modeling
  • Have a good knowledge of analysis tools such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Fault Tree, and Weibull, FMEA meetings.
  • Experience with or training in RCM II will be very advantageous
  • Relevant engineering/technical qualification (degree or diploma)
  • Training in RCM processes
