Junior Expert - Biodiversity

We are looking for a junior expert, with a background in biology sciences and experience with policy/consultancy work. The junior expert will work closely with our biodiversity team and be involved in our work on biodiversity issues, e.g. nature, ecosystems, forestry. This will involve in particular:

• Conducting research to support studies on biodiversity protection at the international, EU and regional levels and other related topics including literature review, stakeholder surveys/interviews and collection and processing of data;
• Supporting management including communication with partners and external experts and internal/external reporting tasks;
• Supporting the drafting of sections of reports and other deliverables under the supervision of senior team members.

Key qualifications for the position:

• Masters degree or higher in biology sciences/policy or other relevant discipline;
• Background and experience in European public policy analysis; knowledge of the EU, regional and international regulatory/policy framework on biodiversity is desirable;
• Minimum two year prior work experience; focus on biodiversity-related issues is considered an advantage;
• Well-organised, practical-minded and able to prioritise a busy and varied work-load;
• An independent, self-starter personality;
• Excellent written and spoken English; knowledge of other EU languages strongly desirable;
• Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
