The mission of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN) is to raise the economic welfare of citizens of the European Union and to foster competitive, employment-rich economies by developing policies geared towards smart, sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
The European Commission is seeking to appoint a Deputy Director-General, whose main task is to support the Director-General in the management and coordination of DG ECFIN.
Your responsibilities:
- Lead, coordinate and supervise the work of three Directorates in charge of:
- (i) investment, growth and structural reforms,
- (ii) budgetary and macro-economic surveillance in the Member States, and
- (iii) treasury and financial operations;
- Actively participate in the horizontal activities of the Directorate-General;
- Contribute to the definition and implementation of the overall policy strategy of DG ECFIN.
Your skills:
- Very good knowledge of, and experience in, economic matters and main policy areas managed by DG ECFIN;
- Solid representation and negotiating skills, excellent communication skills and ability to represent the European Commission effectively and efficiently at the highest political levels;
- Excellent leadership and management skills, very good political judgement and the ability to generate and implement new overall strategic plans and processes.
