The CSIR is looking to fill the following position:

Electronic/Electro-optical Engineer

The successful candidate will add his/her electronic hardware and software skills to an electro-optical research and development group, where projects will be undertaken for a range of clients - with a particular focus on industrial systems for local and international markets.

Candidates must have a BEng in Electronic Engineering, with at least 5-10 years' experience in a suitable environment, and knowledge of good electronic design (including best practice on PCB designs, digital signal processing, VHDL programming - preferably Altera, system integration (hardware and software), image processing and measurement techniques and embedded software development (C++/Assembler) on NIOS/PIC). Technical leadership abilities and the proven ability to work independently and within a research team environment are also needed. Knowledge of electro-optical systems, their optics, filters, detectors and radiometric aspects would be preferred.
