Description:

The Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs, a nonprofit, non-advocacy independent organization, was founded by Andrew Carnegie in 1914. Its purpose is to promote understanding of the underlying values and conditions that ensure peaceful relations among nations. The Council sponsors collaborative educational projects, conferences, curriculum development programs, and publications that reach both expert and general audiences.

We are currently looking for a permanent Program Director of our Global Ethics Network of educational partners.

Responsibilities Will Include

Educational Multi-Media publishing

  • Coordinate the work of the Education Associates team in product development
  • Suggest and conceptualize new and revised products
  • Develop the Global Ethics Network
  • Work with several global partners on joint programming and product development
  • Secure sponsorship for studio-based, educational programs
  • Direct “Carnegie New Leaders”: guide programming and projects
  • Direct Training Curriculum on business ethics and leadership
  • Conduct television/radio interviews or media appearances
  • Write occasional commentaries for educational use

Public Relations & Marketing

  • Help the Council become better known in its target audiences
  • Develop distribution channels including Public Radio stations, TV stations, cable outlets, etc. to disseminate Council products
  • Find new distribution channels for products and increase outreach to educational venues worldwide
  • Market the Training Curriculum
  • Market the Carnegie Ethics Studio to produce quality TV, radio, and educational products
  • Evaluate feedback from users and channels to improve the products
  • Help devise new or alternative products to implement the mission of the Carnegie Council

Qualification:

Skills/Experience & Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree required
  • 5 to 10 years working in international affairs
  • Successful track record in raising corporate and/or foundation support
  • TV, radio, or print journalism experience helpful
  • Experience in conducting television/radio interviews or media appearances
  • Strong communication skills with donors or clients
  • Experience in managing teams
  • Ability to meld the Council's mission with value for donors
  • Entrepreneurial inclination
  • Experience abroad a plus

The candidate should have a good basis in international affairs, technical knowledge of the editing process, and effective project management skills. The ideal candidate will also have superior administrative and writing skills. The position requires a blend of content, creativity, technique, and marketing, as well as experience working in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment. He or she will be diplomatic, of the highest integrity, possess sound judgment, and demonstrate good interpersonal skills.
