Community Liaison Officer
The Housing Development Agency (HDA) is a national public development agency that promotes sustainable communities by making well-located and appropriately planned land and buildings available for the development of housing and human settlements. As its primary activity, the Agency assembles and releases public, private and communal land for development. Its main objectives are to identify, acquire, hold, develop and release well-located land and buildings, and to provide project management support and housing development services.
The HDA is seeking the services of the following individuals to be based in Cape Town:
Both posts are 2-year fixed-term contract positions.
Community Liaison Officer (3 Posts)
Reporting to the Community Liaison and Development Manager, the successful candidate will facilitate buy-in on projects by the beneficiary communities so that they are successfully moved to new BNG homes in a controlled and constructive manner. Functions include educating and engaging with the community, assisting with building a database and ensuring correct documentation exists.
Requirements:
- At least a Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
- 3 years experience in a large-scale social/development environment, of which 2 years must have been in a community liaison role • Experience in mediation and management of community issues and conflicts
- Coaching and mentoring experience • An NGO background or knowledge
- Computer literacy
- Conflict resolution skills
- The ability to deal with a wide variety of stakeholders, including housing beneficiaries, community leaders and local municipal councillors
- The ability to work overtime and flexi hours
- Fluency in Xhosa advantageous
- A driver’s licence and own transport are essential. (Ref. 80063/CL0)
