Director (GRADE AD14) COM/2011/10315 for the Directorate for Social Statistics
The European Commission is looking to recruit a Director (GRADE AD14) COM/2011/10315 for the Directorate for Social Statistics to be based in Brussels
Eurostat is the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Statistics, delivering a high quality statistical information service to support EU decision-making. Following a restructuring later this year, the Directorate for Social Statistics will comprise five units with around 110 staff and an operating budget exceeding €7 million, plus a remit spanning statistics concerning demography and migration, the labour market, living conditions, education and culture, criminal justice, food standards, and health and safety. You will ensure outstanding performance across these areas as you direct legal and political decisions, shape strategy, lead modernisation and manage key stakeholder relationships demanding genuinely innovative thinking; this function will require extensive travel.
Educated to at least first degree level, you will bring in-depth knowledge of the European Statistical System, including data production and methodology, plus key areas of EU policy. Naturally, you will be politically astute, extremely analytical and capable of solving complex organisational problems to achieve strong results, and you will be fully capable of leading some far-reaching discussions. Finally, it is vital that you combine a lengthy professional track record in relevant roles with a good command of two official EU languages.
