Director Mental Health Europe - Santé Mentale Europe

Mental Health Europe is now looking for a new director to replace the current director who will retire as per 1 January 2012.

Requirements for the position include:

Essential:

- Good knowledge of the mental health field, proven interest or experience in the sector

- 5-7 years experience of working in the NGO sector and in a managerial function in international organisations

- Good knowledge of the EU institutions along with proven experience of monitoring policy work

- Excellent knowledge of English and good knowledge of French

- Excellent organisation skills

- Good communication and negotiation skills

- Ability to work autonomously and take initiatives

- Willingness to travel frequently abroad and to work in weekends when necessary

Advantage:

- Basic knowledge of other languages spoken in EU (other than English and French)

- A University degree

- Advanced computer skills

The function includes the following responsibilities:

- Implementation as Chief Executive Officer of the organisation’s policy and its work programme

- Overall responsibility for the management of the MHE Secretariat:

• Coordination and monitoring of the whole work programme
• Managing the employed staff and leading a team
• Managing the budget

- Support the Chair, Officers, Board and General Assembly

- Lobby and liaise with European level agencies

- Represent Mental Health Europe at conferences and meetings

- Develop funding strategies towards a solid financial base

- Develop the MHE membership
