ISIS Europe is a highly respected independent organisation, known for its analysis of EU and NATO and pro-active policy work on conflict prevention, crisis management, security sector reform, gender and security and disarmament.
The successful candidate will have:
* Knowledge, passion and enthusiasm on EU policy in the security, defence, peacebuilding policy areas of the EU and related international frameworks;
* Strong contacts with policy makers and funding sources in the EU;
* A successful track record in fund-raising;
* A thorough understanding of European security institutions and the areas addressed in ISIS Europe's security governance, responding to conflict, gender and security and arms control and disarmament programmes;
* Experience in research project management and administration;
* Knowledge of other EU languages, particularly French, would be an advantage.
Job Description
* Immediate and continual fundraising for both core activities and research projects;
* Carry out administrative and executive tasks (including project accounting);
* Efficiently manage and administer ISIS Europe's budget;
* Manage ISIS Europe's core research work in the fields of EU Institutional Reform and Security Governance; EU Crisis Management and Responding to Conflict; Gender and Security;
* Direct current projects funded by the EC and in collaboration with CSDP MAP partners;
* Oversee ISIS Europe's publication programme, providing quality control and editing the European Security Review, the ISIS Europe blog, ISIS twitter, ISIS Event Reports;
* Represent ISIS Europe at national and international conferences and seminars and through interviews with the press;
* Maintain and extend ISIS Europe's network of national and international contacts in the international security field;
* Take direction and advice from the Governing Board;
* Manage and supervise staff.
Selection Criteria
Qualifications
* Higher degree in political science, international relations, peace studies or equivalent qualifications and experience;
* Extensive knowledge of international security and European security organisations, particularly the EU.
* Knowledge and ability to work with social media and computer software.
Experience/skills
* Previous experience and successful record of fund raising and budget management;
* Experience in managing a non-profit organisation;
* A record of research project management in the field of international security;
* At least two to three years experience in management position;
* Experience in the field in peacebuilding/security/SSR an advantage;
* Personnel management;
* Publishing and editorial experience (in English);
* A track record in public speaking at high level conferences;
* Media experience;
* Experience in dealing with international organisations, government and/or non-governmental organisations; platforms of institutions/professionals;
* Fluency to editorial level in English;
* A working knowledge of French.
Personal Qualities
* Enthusiam, passion and strong work ethic;
* Capacity to establish and maintain effective relations with staff and the Governing Board;
* Ability and dedication to assure the collective well-being and smooth running of the organisation;
* Inititative to develop and engage in collaborative projects with outside organisations;
* Innate desire to promote ISIS Europe's established standing in national and international fora;
* Good human resource management and communication/interaction with staff/consultants/senior advisors; training ability and mentoring skills.
Employment of ISIS Executive Director is on negotiation according to EU residence.
Indicative gross salary: 55,000 - 60,000 Euros per annum depending on qualifications and experience.
