Senior emergency programme manager, Haiti
Haiti is still recovering from the massive earthquake that struck in January 2010. In this role, created specifically to manage our contribution to the recovery process, you’ll marshal all your emergency recovery and development experience to lead our appeal programme.
We need an outstanding leader to make sure every penny of the resources raised to support Haitians is spent effectively. Reporting into the Country Manager, you’ll head up a team, manage, develop and co-ordinate our humanitarian response. You’ll work with donors, partners and other Christian Aid staff, collaborate with a wide range of aid agencies and ensure our work meets international standards. It will be down to you to establish coherent rehabilitation and reconstruction programmes, including disaster risk reduction initiatives, through implementing our policies and practices and building strong relationships.
Substantial experience of managing emergency relief programmes is essential. It’s a background that means you understand internationally agreed humanitarian policies and practice, capacity building tools and techniques, can plan and prioritise with confidence and know how to build strong teams. You’ll be resilient, resourceful, decisive and committed to supporting local initiatives. Spoken and written French and English is an essential requirement for this post and spoken Creole is desirable.
