SALARY: *Ordinarily Resident (OR): R$ 18.804,00 p.a. (Starting salary) (Position Grade: FSN-6)

*Not-Ordinarily Resident (NOR): US$ 17,876.00 p.a. (Starting salary) (Position Grade: FP-8)

The U.S. Embassy in Brasilia is seeking an individual for the position of Administrative Clerk in the Overseas Buildings Operations Agency.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

Incumbent performs a wide range of clerical/administrative services for the entire office such as: coordinates the officer’s and office staff agenda, files official/unofficial reports and documents, maintains office and individual calendars, screens papers and correspondence, answers telephones in a courteous manner for all staff members, takes messages, gives information to callers and visitors, and routes calls to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

EDUCATION: Secondary (high) school is required.

EXPERIENCE: experience in administrative/clerical and customer service functions is required.

LANGUAGE: Level III (Good Working Knowledge) in speaking/reading English and Level II (Limited Knowledge) in speaking/reading Portuguese is required. Language proficiency will be tested.

KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of general office administration and excellent command of customer service procedures.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Typing Level II (30-59 wpm). Must have organizational skills with strong multi-tasking abilities, ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities, attention to details and deadlines, ability to communicate with others both in writing and orally and user’s knowledge of Microsoft Office package.

Testing may be conducted to determine qualifications.

SELECTION PROCESS

When fully qualified, U. S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S. Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA

1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, continuity and residency status in determining successful candidacy.

2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.

3. Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply. Please submit your most recent Employee Performance Report (EPR).

4. Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.

5. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
