As one of the leading providers of emergency assistance in humanitarian crises, Oxfam understands the importance of responding quickly and providing quality responses. The past 18 months have seen West Africa experience an increased frequency of crises and we’re still dealing with the consequences. So it’s important that we have the capacity to establish a presence and respond rapidly to major humanitarian emergencies within the region. That’s why we the West Africa Regional Centre is expanding our humanitarian register to include experienced humanitarian professionals i.e. programme managers, water and sanitation and hygiene specialists, emergency food security and livelihoods specialists, advocacy, campaigning and media communications specialists; and human resources coordinators.

We’re looking for people with both relevant skills and practical experience of working in emergency situations. Ideally, you’ll be fluent in French and English, demonstrate a thorough understanding of and commitment to humanitarian principles and minimum standards for disaster response. You’ll be confident in leading and managing responses and designing appropriate programmes within your field, committed to gender equality and diversity, and be readily deployable within 72 hours. Most of all, you’ll be committed to bringing your expertise to bear where it’s needed most, when it’s needed most.

There are no vacancies present at the moment; this recruitment is a preparedness measure in the event of an emergency scale up of our programmes in any of our West African countries.
