The company offers an exceptional growth profile within the diamond sector, with a core objective to grow annual production to around 4 million carats by FY 2014 and further increase output to over 5 million carats by FY 2019.
Medical Officers (2 Posts)
This challenging position requires the successful candidate to set the required standards in a hospital-based general practice setting, providing a service to the employees of Finsch Diamond Mine and the community.
Key performance areas:
- Provide all levels of medical care, including a full Occupational Health Service
- Investigate new drugs on the market and recommend stock holding to minimise treatment delays
- Examine in-, out- and emergency patients, maintaining medical standards to meet legislative requirements
- Monitor patient progress in post-operative/treatment situations, taking remedial action if progress does not concur with expectations
- Control and direct the activities of subordinates to ensure that objectives/targets and legal requirements are met and that safety/security standards are maintained
- Interpret Company policies and procedures for the Medical section and devise standard procedures, which ensure that safety and legislative requirements are met
- Understand the values and business objectives of the Company, ensuring that the activities of the medical section are aligned accordingly
- Set and maintain performance standards.
Minimum requirements:
- Relevant medical qualification and full registration in the RSA
- Postgraduate Occupational Health qualification
- 7 years’ postgraduate experience
- Surgical and orthopaedic skills
- Knowledge and application of medical, surgical and obstetrics procedures
- Current ATLS/ACLS
- Experience in financial and practice management
- HIV treatment and programme management
- Management as well as medical experience is essential
- Code EB driver’s licence.
Consideration will be given to the Company’s Employment Equity Policy. Candidates will be required to pass the Company’s Security Clearance and undergo a medical examination of fitness as per the inherent requirements of the position.
