Programme Head

The Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute (WRHI) is a leading African academic research institution working in the fields of reproductive health, HIV and the broader arenas of infectious diseases. WRHI has its headquarters in Hillbrow in the inner city of Johannesburg.


PROGRAMME HEAD


The main purpose of the position is to lead the implementation of WRHI’s provincial health programmes strategy and to provide strategic oversight of the implementation.


Duties:

  • Lead the implementation of WRHI’s programmes in partnership with provincial DOH partners in the Mpumalanga and Gauteng Provinces
  • Coordinate PEPFAR and operational activities, including acting as a technical liaison to the PEPFAR Provincial Liaison
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships by communicating effectively at all levels of WRHI around programmatic inputs and outputs
  • Communicate with local, regional and international collaborators, including donors and sponsors
  • Manage and support subordinates to ensure quality programme implementation

Requirements:
  • Professional Nursing degree, MBBCh degree or Allied Healthcare qualification
  • Demonstrated understanding of monitoring and evaluation
  • 8 years’ experience in managing multidisciplinary teams in a public healthcare setting
  • Experience in HIV programmes, including ARV treatment
  • Proven experience in and understanding of PEPFAR programmes and partners
  • Extensive experience of quality improvement systems development
  • Extensive experience in dealing with provincial and local health authorities and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrated understanding of PEPFAR programme areas.
