STAP-HEAD OF INSTITUTIONAL FUNDRAISING & PARTNERSHIP

CARE is seeking an experienced Head of Institutional Fundraising & Partnership (IFP) to provide leadership in strengthening and building strategic partnerships, with a focus on US Government, Professional Foundations, Corporations, Academic Institutions and Social Enterprises, in collaboration with PPLA teams, CARE US Program Partnership Learning and Advocacy Team, Country Offices, Regional Management Units, and CARE International members. S/he will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to IFP team. S/he will lead the development of a coherent vision and value proposition that is aligned with CARE International’s strategic vision. S/he will work closely with the directors of foundations, competitive bids, strategic partnerships and alliances, and social enterprise to build an integrated team approach to achieving the department’s annual operating plan. The director will serve as an active strategist with team members and provide mentoring to the IFP team. S/he will be able to channel energy, experience and skills to the team as well as be able to set common goals and objectives.
The Head of IFP will strengthen collaborative relationships with other teams and divisions across the organization as well as with donors and other stakeholders outside of CARE. S/he will identify opportunities to leverage resources and partnerships across multiple sectors. S/he is expected to mobilize and galvanize others around CARE’s vision by building and nurturing networks of relationships established on mutual trust and respect as well as on shared needs and goals. S/he is expected to be conversant in strategic partnerships with as broad an array of engagement with CARE as possible. With the four teams, the Head of IFP will build CARE’s capacity to influence policies and practices in the corporate, foundations and US Government spheres that are relevant to CARE’s social justice mission in various sectors. S/he should have good field experience and a deep understanding of development program.
The Head of IFP is expected to carry out her /his responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with CARE’s values, policies and operating plans.
Responsibilities:
· Actively build leadership within the IFP Unit and identify development needs and opportunities for teams and individuals
· Contribute to CARE USA’s senior leadership structural mechanisms to provide overall leadership of the IFP division
· Ensure timely performance management and ongoing support to the team.
· Lead the development and implementation of IFP Annual Operating Plan and inclusion in Program Theme Teams
· Support the team to identify an appropriate platform for an index of existing and potential corporate, foundation, USG and social enterprise resources that require or can serve as leverage to other partnership and funding streams
· Promote systems and processes that facilitate the identification and prioritizing of prospect funding and strategic partners
· Work closely with CARE Program, Partnership, Livelihood & Advocacy (PPLA) Unit to develop fund raising strategies for engagement with US government, foundations and the private sector in order to raise funds and strengthen support for CARE’s program priorities and to enhance impact.
· Contribute to strategic discussions within CARE International around global fund raising
· Support the Corporate Engagement Team in global account management (including global due diligence)
· Support the Middle East Office to raise awareness, strengthen strategic partnerships and fundraising
· Support IFP Team in developing long term global strategic partnership and fund raising processes
· Identify opportunities to develop relationships with strategic partners and donors
· Be able to represent CARE’s program with external /internal stakeholders as well as internal
· Work with the PPLA team to identify which conferences /events CARE should be present and prepare for these events
Required:
· Bachelor’s degree
· 10 yrs in institutional fundraising
· 10 yrs experience in managing teams
· Strong Leadership

· Excellent written communication
Desired:
· Master’s degree in business, public administration
· 10 yrs experience in development programming
· 5 yrs hand-on experience in developing countries
· Strong public speaking / presentation skills
· Training or group facilitation
· Good development field experience
