EngenderHealth Nigeria Employment Opportunities

EngenderHealth Nigeria is seeking expressions of interest from highly qualified candidates to staff an anticipated USAID-funded Family Planning/Reproductive Health (FP/RH) project aiming at increasing use of quality FP/RH services including the informed and voluntary use of long acting and permanent methods (LA/PMs) in Nigeria. Although EngenderHealth currently maintains an office in Abuja, the location(s) of the positions for the new project will be determined based on the final design of the project.

Nigeria based positions include: Project Director, Technical/Training Team Leader, Monitoring & Evaluation Team Leader, and FP/RH Senior Technical Advisors.

The Project Director must possess an advanced degree(s) in public health, medical or social sciences, health systems, international development or a related advanced degree and extensive management experience with at least 10 years of work experience in designing and implementing health service delivery strengthening projects, with five of these years spent managing large, complex family planning projects while living in developing countries; experience interacting with government agencies, host country governments and counterparts and international donor agencies; demonstrated international credibility as a leader in health and health service delivery strengthening preferably in Africa in the areas of FP/RH and LAPM, including managing USAID funded health projects. Fluent in spoken and written English is a requirement.

The Technical/Training Team Leader must possess a medical degree (MD, MBBS) or other clinical degrees such as nursing, midwifery or an Advanced degree in a related field. He/ she must have at least 10 years of experience in providing technical assistance implementing or managing projects related to strengthening FP/RH facility-based services, with three-five years spent managing facility-based programs in developing countries; demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based FP/RH interventions to strengthen clinical services.

The Monitoring & Evaluation Team Leader must possess an advanced degree in public health, demography, sociology, psychology, biostatics or a related field; 10 years of experience supervising monitoring & evaluating efforts for health programs in developing countries; demonstrated analytical skills and experiences to identify and evaluate the evidence-based FP/RH interventions and state-of-the-art approaches to be used by the project. Demonstrated ability to undertake and supervise operations research, including designing research protocols, conducting research, analyzing and synthetizing data, and disseminating findings; strong writing and organizational skills in English for reporting on program study results.

FP/H Service Delivery Senior Technical Advisors (multiple vacancies anticipated) must possess a medical degree (MD, MBBS), other clinical degrees (such as nursing, midwifery), or a university degree in a related, relevant field. Must have at least 7 years of experience providing technical assistance in the areas SRH/FP and LAPM, including experience building the capacity of local implementing partners in facility and community-based settings; generating demand for services through community engagement; and advocating for sustainable changes at the policy level. Experience working for international agencies is preferred.

Masters of Public Health degree along with experience in integrated approaches to quality health service delivery in the public sector and/or with private sector networks, including gender equity and community engagement for health is a plus for all candidates.
