Role Purpose

As an Internal Communications Business Partner at Virgin Atlantic you’ll be working at the very heart of the business, getting stuck in and finding out what makes us tick. Your role will ensure we have communication practices across the airline that inform, involve and inspire all our employees. Working closely with stakeholders you will support their business plans with clear, effective and targeted communications.
The ability to gain the trust and confidence of people across the business will be crucial. Communication requirements need to be effectively assessed and appropriate communication plans designed and implemented. A high degree of planning, flexibility and quick thinking is also required in order to successfully manage multiple projects on a broad range of topics in a fast-moving environment. Above all, this role calls for someone with lots of ideas, energy and passion, who is keen to get things done and make a big impact.

Responsibilities

Relationship Management

Builds relationships at all levels to win advocacy and support and quickly becomes a valued member of the business area’s team
Promotes understanding of internal communication as a business critical tool and ensures that any activity is aligned to business objectives
Main point of contact for all internal communication matters for the business area
Provides advice to the management team on how certain decisions might ‘play out’ based on audience knowledge and feedback and makes recommendations on how to deliver messages as a result
Establishes strong working relationships with support functions to ensure appropriate resource for the successful delivery of communication activity
Effective communications
Strong understanding of change management and how communication supports projects
Understands how to deliver communications that will inform, involve and inspire colleagues
Define and manage an internal communications plan to ensure a project, business goal or activity gets clearly communicated to the relevant audience
Understands the company’s vision and business goals and the contribution of their area and supports this with a business area communications plan
Measure and assess the effectiveness of internal communications activity and set targets for continual improvement year on year
Internal media and events
Identifies opportunities to use new and existing internal channels and tools to ensure audience receive user friendly, timely and accurate communication
Able to map out a communications infrastructure which is aligned to the business plan and encourages two-way feedback throughout the business area
Always looking for fresh ways of working, shares ideas with stakeholders and the IC team which encourages constant improvement of VAA internal communications
Writes and delivers high quality communications which is designed to deliver the objectives of the task
Brand and company culture
Deliver a consistent tone of voice and look and feel for all internal communications collateral and events that supports the brand values
Ensure communication programmes are reflective of the company culture including the employee proposition, brand values and the manifesto
Deliver internal awareness campaigns through the use of creative solutions which are supported by detailed plans and have stakeholder support
