Job Summary:

The CGIAR Research Program on Agriculture for Improved Nutrition and Health (CRP4) will work to accelerate progress in improving the nutrition and health of poor people by re-shaping agriculture and food systems through new, creative policies and investments that take an interdisciplinary perspective. Led by International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in close collaboration with International Livestock Research Institute, CRP4 brings together 12 CGIAR centers and multiple partners from agriculture, nutrition, and health communities from around the world.
The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks a qualified candidate to fill the position of CRP4 Senior Program Manager/Program Manager for a two-year, exempt, fixed-term, renewable, appointment. Under the direct supervision of the CPR4 Director and in close collaboration with the Planning and Management Committee and component leaders and CRP4 participating centers and partners, the CRP4 Program Manager will assist the CPR4 Director by managing operational, research and partnership aspects of the CRP4 program. This position is based at IFPRI headquarters in Washington, DC.

Essential Duties:

• Develop contracts and agreements with CGIAR bodies and CRP4 partners.

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the program:

• Communicate program goals, requirements and deliverables to all relevant staff and CGIAR Center partners

• Develop and manage program work plans and timelines and update as required for adjustments to priorities and focus

• Organize systems to track, monitor and report program calendar and deliverables, and coordinate with CRP4 Component Leaders to ensure timely delivery of products and reports

• Manage program budget and ensure appropriate financial reporting is done on a timely basis

• Supervise administrative staff in the CRP4 office

• Support establishment and running of CRP4 governance and management structures including the Planning and Management Committee and the Independent Advisory Group.

• Support development of the CRP4 Monitoring and Evaluation plan. Develop reports and manage routine reporting with the Consortium on research deliverables, program briefs and financial reports.

• Plan and provide logistical coordination for CRP4 meetings, prepare agendas, background information and meeting outputs and materials for follow-up actions.

• Plan and deliver program workshops and trainings (HQ and in the field).

• Support development of the CRP4 partnership strategy and implementation plan. Be responsible for agreements and communications with partners.

• Coordinate development of CRP4 program proposals and manage information flows and support development of CRP4-associated Center and partner proposals.

• Support development of the CRP4 communication strategy and implementation plan. Coordinate communications and outreach to partners and other external audiences. Engage with the IFPRI Communications Division in development of CRP4 communication products and presentation materials. Respond to internal/external project information requests.

• Other management tasks assigned by the CRP4 Director or in support of the Planning and Management Committee.


Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as Economics, Agricultural Economics, International Development, Agriculture, Nutrition, Public Health or relevant field, or equivalent.

• Demonstrated 6-8 years’ experience in managing complex projects, with multiple partners and substantial budget, preferably in an international research environment.

• Knowledge of project management skills: demonstrated experience in successfully coordinating multiple project activities, managing project deliverables and project budgets.

• Familiarity with food, nutrition, agricultural, public health and/or rural development issues in developing countries; substantial experience in research project methodologies and processes.

• Demonstrated experience in interacting with stakeholders (donors, governments, non-governmental organizations and research organizations), preferably in an international environment.

• Fluency in written and spoken English; excellent writing and editing skills.

• Excellent computer skills.

• Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated experience working in a multi-cultural team environment.

• Ability to interact and communicate with diverse audiences.

• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally as necessary.

• Demonstrated ability to organize and implement workshops and trainings.


Preferred Qualifications:

• PMP certification

• Knowledge of the CGIAR system.

• Proficiency in a second language of the U.N. system.

• Demonstrated experience in research proposal development.
