Kabale University Employment Opportunities

Inaugurated in 2001 and licensed by the National Council for Higher Education in March 2005, under Licence No. UI.PL.003. Kabale University (KAB) has enjoyed steady growth and progress. KAB Main Campus is located on Kikungiri Hill, one kilometer off Kabale-Kigali Highway in Kabale Municipality. Mandated to bridge a highly felt gap in South Western Uganda and the surrounding areas of the Great Lakes Region, KAB offers a serene reflective environment which is enhanced by the cool all-year-round energizing climate. ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS

University Engineer (01 Post);

Duties: The selected candidate will be responsible for all civil works, including construction management and inspection of works, Contracts Management, providing technical guidance from time to time; supervising staff under his/her supervision and other related tasks.

Qualifications: At least a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering plus 3 years working experience in construction management and inspection of works in a reputable organization/institution.

University Librarian (01 Post);

Duties: As head of the Unit, the University Librarian will be responsible for the planning, promotion and management of quality library and information services of a growing University, including spearheading the formulation and implementation of Library structures, systems and policies, and related issues.

Qualification: At least a Masters Degree in Library and Information Science or related field. A PhD is an added advantage. At least 3 years administrative and managerial experience in a large academic institution or a big commercial organization.

Legal Officer (01 Post)
Duties: Advising the University on all legal matters, Handling legal and non-legal matters as referred to him/ her from time to time by the University authorities, interpreting laws, rulings and regulations for the University Management and University Community, gathering legal data and determining advisability of defending or prosecuting law suits, and/or, advising the parties on the possibility of settlement out of court, Drafting various communications for Management, contracts and legal memoranda. At least two years experience as a practicing High Court Advocate.
Qualifications
A Bachelor of Laws Degree from a recognized university and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, Must be an enrolled advocate of the High court of Uganda and Good computer, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Internal Auditor (01)

Duties
Taking audit of the University books of accounts, monitoring and advising the University Management on financial matters, working with the Finance Department in developing and maintaining proper financial systems.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or B.Com specializing in auditing. A minimum of three (3) years working experience in auditing in a reputable organization.

Web Master (01)
Duties: Designing and maintaining the University Website, developing the website policy, upgrading the ICT systems and other related duties.

Qualifications: A relevant Bachelors Degree with a minimum of three years hands on experience.

Assistant Secretary (Human Resource) (01)

Duties: implementation of decisions of relevant governing bodies, including, general staff matters, staff appointments, probation, confirmation, discipline, leave supervision of Group employees and other related tasks.

Qualifications: a Masters Degree in Human Resource Management from a recognized institution plu minimum working experience of three (3) years with a busy organization. Previous experience in handling human resource matters is of great advantage. Proficiency in computer is skills a must.

Assistant Secretary (Office of the Vice-Chancellor) (1)

Duties: To assist the Vice-Chancellor in the administrative role of the University and carry out the bridging role of the Office of the Vice Chancellor and other Units of the University.

Qualifications: At least a Masters Degree in the humanities/social sciences, from a recognized institution, and a minimum working experience of three years in a busy organization, preferably an educational institution. A proactive, innovative, and analytical person, as well as team player and able to work under minimum supervision will be preferred. Computer and demonstrable writing skills are essential.

Administrative Assistants (04)

Duties: The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support to the top University Officials, General Office Administration, Disseminating Information to various Offices and Persons, Record Keeping, Protection of Office furniture and equipment, arranging and providing secretarial services at various meetings.

Qualifications:
At least a Bachelors Degree in Secretarial Studies or related field from a recognized institution, plus a minimum working experience of 3 years.

Library Assistants (02)

Duties: Ensuring that the library is opened to start operation in time, shelving of books for easy access of the users, assisting the users to access the information in the library, attending to users and answering their queries or referring them appropriately.

Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Library and Information Science from a recognized University with at least one (1) year working experience.

Accounts Assistant (01)

Duties:

Updating the day-to-day books of accounts, receiving bank slips from students and issuing them
receipts to and issuing stationery, office administration, assisting in dissemination of information
from the finance department, any other duty assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Business Administration plus one (01) year working experience in a busy finance office.

Technicians/Artisans (02)

  1. Duties: Maintenance of plumbing systems, follow up proper water usage, provision of general renovation services, advising Management on technical matters pertaining to plumbing.

Qualifications: At least Advance Certificate in Plumbing. Working experience of three (3) years in plumbing within a big organization or institution.

  1. Duties: Maintenance of Electrical Systems, domestic hiring, advising management on electrical matters, checking and ensuring proper usage of electricity, giving periodic reports on the status of electrical.

Qualifications: At least Advanced Certificate in Electrical Installation. Minimum working experience of three (3) years in a very big organization or institution.

ACADEMIC POSITIONS

Deputy Director Postgraduate Studies (01),
Qualification: A PhD degree with proven research and teaching experience, and publications. In special cases, a Masters Degree holder with vast experience in research will be considered.
Duties: Teaching, assisting the Director in postgraduate managerial tasks, coordinating student research and related duties.

Coordinator, Nursing Programme (01)
Qualifications: At least a Masters Degree in Nursing or related field. At least two years experience in the teaching and management of nursing academic programmes in recognized institutions. A professional tutor’s qualification will be an added advantage.
Duties : This is a senior position where the Coordinator will assist the University in managing the newly created Unit of Nursing Studies, and to oversee the operations of this Unit, both academic and administrative.

Lecturers/Senior Lecturers, Qualifications:
At least a Masters Degree and wide teaching and research experience, with adequate publications in the following fields/disciplines. A PhD will be an added advantage.
