SENIOR LECTURER/LECTURER IN MATERIALS AND MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING

Qualifications:
PhD in Mechanical/Manufacturing or Materials Engineering (or a closely related field).

Experience:
1. Teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level in areas of specialisation
2. Good track record of research and publications in refereed international journals
3. Supervision of research leading to MSc/MPhil/PhD
4. Preparing and submitting successful grant applications would also be desirable
5. Experience in the industry will be an advantage

Areas of Specialisation:
1. Materials Technology: Properties and Applications of Metals; Polymers, Composites; Ceramics and Coatings; as well as Materials Standard Specifications and Non Destructive Testing
2. Manufacturing processes: Emphasis on Heat Treatment; Welding; Metal Forming and Polymer Forming Processes

Responsibilities:
1. Contribute to teaching and research in the materials and manufacturing engineering programme
2. Teach in the Department’s postgraduate and undergraduate programmes;
3. Coordinate postgraduate programmes;
4. Supervising student research projects and provide advisory services to the community on manufacturing issues

Should be a team player, with the ability to apply student centred learning methodologies and must be committed to the continuous improvement in quality of the Department’s curriculum at the undergraduate and post graduate levels.
