General Function:

The Project Director will launch a four month media response project in Libya aimed at improving the level of professional journalism, aiding information flows and at helping promote media as a forum for discussion about the future of Libya. Under the supervision of the MENA VP, the Project Director performs high level tasks and manages the Libya project, including fiscal oversight.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned:

  • Oversee and implement project in Libya, including tracking of budgets
  • Assist in programmatic development and project support for future programs
  • Help prepare proposals/reports/budgets (write, edit, proof, revise)
  • Research and develop new partnerships and funding opportunities
  • Work with implementation teams on new initiatives
  • Prepare correspondence and reports from local conferences and discussion panels
  • Write reports for primary donors.
  • Implement activities related to communication with the public and news media on program activities and accomplishments, as well as public relations
  • Carry out research as assigned and in support of ongoing projects and new initiatives
  • Represent organization at various conferences and events

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years media development experience with a focus on broadcast
  • Arabic skills a plus
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Experience managing databases
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple on-going assignments
  • Relevant university degree required
