Overview
The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We are part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies. We enable vulnerable people in the UK and abroad to prepare for and withstand emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we help them to recover and move on with their lives.

The Role
Following the Earthquake that hit Haiti in January 2010, under the coordination framework of the international Federation of Red Cross/Crescent Societies, BRC established an integrated programme to assist affected communities to recover from the disaster. A survey of a camp population in Port au Prince in 2010 identified livelihood as a primary need with shelter and sanitation as additional support mechanisms. The BRC team developed an integrated recovery programme to support the earthquake affected camp population to return to their original neighbourhood.

We are now looking for a Livelihoods Manager who will be responsible for leading and managing the BRCS livelihoods team in Port au Prince with the overall operational goal of creating/improving opportunities for earthquake affected urban families to re-establish sustainable livelihoods through a community recovery approach.

She/He will proactively participate in the strategic development and delivery of an integrated neighbourhood recovery programme combining livelihoods, shelter and WATSAN to create a resilient sustainable community in accordance with BRCS and IFRC recovery principles and practices.

The key objectives for the Livelihoods Manager will include:

Lead the:

1. Design and delivery of the livelihoods component of the BRCS integrated recovery programme, ensuring complementarity and synergy with other programme sectors

2. Process of engagement with the community ensuring that they are fully and meaningfully involved in the design and implementation of the project in a meaningful way

3. Development of programme and project proposals including all documentation methodology log frames, defining implementation procedures, budgeting and financial management processes using best practice tools and techniques.

4. Detailed project work planning, budgeting and financial management processes using best practice tools and approaches.

As such for the right person, we will provide a comprehensive package as stated below;

Salary: £41,917/annum pro rata (salary £27,682 plus daily allowance currently £14,235) & other excellent benefits including accommodation, 30 days A/L, Insurance, Return Flight, etc.
Contract: Full time. 12 month Fixed Term Contact.
