Senior Advisor for Inclusive Development

Location: Negotiable, but ideally based in a CBM Regional Office

Contract Duration: 2 years

Contract Start: As soon as possible

Objective: Reporting to the Director of the Knowledge, Learning and Training Department, the Senior Advisor for Inclusive Development will work towards improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities through capacity development, advice, training and good practice evidence on Inclusive Development.

Main Tasks

  1. Training Coordination for Inclusive Development •Coordinate the selection, training and mentoring of regional resource persons for inclusive development. This includes training of trainers, systematic follow up of workshops, with a view towards sustainability •Supporting regional resource people in developing and implementing their regional capacity development strategies for inclusive development •Lead the development of new curricula •Assist in identifying additional resources (including resource persons) for training, etc. •Document case studies and evidence on good practice in capacity development for Inclusive Development •Contribute as an active member to the Advisory Working Group for Inclusive Development

  2. Enhancing capacity for the Implementation of Inclusive Development at the regional level •Working closely with Programme Development to develop/adapt tools for regional planning and programming to ensure it is inclusive and in line with CBM’s Global Programme Strategy (GPS) •Systematically link with CBM’s Regional Offices to support their planning to become more inclusive/accessible •Support the Regional Office teams to map Inclusive Development actors in the region and develop networking strategy •Develop and support a framework for regional Inclusive Development advisors •Manage the implementation of a co-funded capacity development program for inclusive development

Professional Profile and Requirement

•Academic and/or applied background in education, development studies, disability studies, public health, social science or other relevant qualifications •At least 5 years relevant and demonstrated experience in development work with a role in training and capacity development in developing countries •Experience of developing training strategies, training of trainers, coaching and mentoring others •Demonstrated project management skills •Knowledge of inclusive development concepts, approaches and networks •Excellent management and coordination skills •Excellent documentation and reporting skills (including financial management) •Able and willing to travel frequently
