Budget and Costing Analyst

The International Potato Center (CIP) is sweeking a Budget and Costing Analyst with high level of commitment to provide financial analysis and support to the Budgeting and Forecasting Group.

The Center: CIP is a not-for-profit international agricultural research-for-development organization with a focus on potato, sweet potato, and Andean roots and tubers. Its vision is of roots and tubers improving the lives of the poor. CIP is dedicated to achieving food security, improved well-being, and gender equity for poor people in root and tuber farming and food systems of the developing world. CIP works with partners to contribute high quality science, technology, and capacity strengthening for sustainable science-based solutions. CIP is headquartered in Lima, Peru, with staff and activities in over 30 locations across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. CIP is a member of the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research, a network of 15 research centers mostly located in the developing world and supported by more than 50 donor members.

The Position: This position will be based in Lima, Perú and report directly to the Budgeting and Forecasting Supervisor. The Budget and Costing Analyst will support the Finance Department in implementing CIP’s organizational mission through efficient and effective management of budgeting, forecasting, and ABC costing preparation. This position will assist in the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasting, and cost proposal for new business development and costing information for ongoing operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Generating costing information for on-going operations using ABC costing technics
  • Maintaining budgets in financial accounting system
  • Providing financial analysis to budgets and forecasting
  • Gathering and analyzing information for cost proposals budgets
  • Creating budget and forecasting templates
  • Collaborating with project managers and accountants in the creation of project budgets and forecasts
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Selection criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field;
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in accounting or financial analysis;
  • Prior experience working for International Non-Government Organizations or Non-Profits preferred;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish;
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Strong proficiency utilizing Financial Software and Advanced Excel skills;
  • Ability to handle multiple clients, projects, and deadlines; possession of strong organizational and time-management skills, attentive to details and the ability to understand and establish appropriate priorities.
  • Analytical Decision Making, identifying and understanding issues and opportunities; using effective approaches for developing appropriate solutions, taking action that is consistent with available facts and probably consequences.

Conditions: This position is local and the employment contract will be for one year term with the possibility of renewal. CIP prides itself on its collegial and supportive working environment, which allows space for personal and professional growth.
