Climate Finance Advisor - Caribbean Development Bank

The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) has a rewarding opportunity for an experienced professional to perform the role of Climate Finance Advisor (CFA). The CFA will advise the Vice-President (Operations) [VP(O)] and work with Operations Management and technical staff to provide advice on key principles, policies and goals of CDB’s vision and strategy on climate change and climate change financing. Further, the Advisor will support similar regional initiatives in collaboration with the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) and work closely with the Programme Manager of the Project Development and Management Unit within CCCCC.

CDB is a multi-lateral development finance institution that works in collaboration with its Borrowing Member Countries to promote sustainable, social and economic development within these countries and economic cooperation and integration among them.


The Role

The CFA will report to the VP(O) and will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with the positioning of CDB to participate in the emerging climate change financing architecture and mobilising resources to support CDB’s interventions in the areas of development assistance.
  • Assisting with the development of a pipeline of lending and technical assistance projects as well as other services related to national climate change mitigation and adaptation priorities.
  • Playing a leading role in the formulation and articulation of climate change policies and programmes for CDB.

The Candidate

  • Eligible candidates should have a Master’s degree in Economics, Quantitative Methods, Modelling Techniques, Management or other relevant fields.
  • Candidates should have ten (10) years of increasingly responsible experience in the area of climate change environmental management or a related discipline. The experience should include field experience on issues relevant to the post.
  • The successful candidate must be willing to live and work in Barbados.
