The Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Institutional Support is part of the executive management reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor. S/he acts as the Chief Operating Officer of the University and is responsible for providing strategic leadership and management of operations across the various campuses. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor has overall responsibility for the successful delivery of diverse portfolios related to physical infrastructure, planning and maintenance, services, security and information and communication technology. The incumbent implements policies, processes and systems to ensure quality, efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability in relation to physical, financial and people resources in each of the key portfolio areas.
NB: The duties and responsibilities and post designation are subject to change.

Requirements:

  • A relevant professional qualification in any one of the Engineering fields, a recognised Doctoral degree will be an advantage
  • At least ten years’ relevant experience, five of which must have been at senior management level
  • Proven experience and skills in successfully managing the facilities and delivery of services in a complex multi-site organisation
  • Evidence of successful experience in project management, including proven ability to work with multiple constituencies and drive efforts spanning a wide range of functions
  • Strong planning, co-ordination and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Strong financial management, planning and budgeting skills and experience
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the challenges and opportunities as well as experience in policy and strategy development and implementation in
  • all areas of the portfolio
  • Computer proficiency.
