DEPUTY VICE-CHANCELLOR: STUDENT DEVELOPMENT AND SERVICES

The Tshwane University of Technology has the following vacancies in Senior Management. All the posts are full-time, five-year fixed-term contracts.

DEPUTY VICE-CHANCELLOR: STUDENT DEVELOPMENT AND SERVICES

The DVC: Student Development and Services is responsible for the leadership, planning, direction, coordination, management and evaluation of all policies, strategies and programmes related to student wellbeing and development, as well as the provision of student-related services including recruitment, retention, counselling and support, development, fi nancial aid, scholarships, accommodation and student discipline. The DVC also holds responsibility for student governance, the Sports Academy and HIV/AIDS Unit. The DVC will provide leadership and oversight of student-related transformation and social justice policies and develop policies and strategies to enhance the student experience at TUT, while fostering a student-centred ethos across all campuses.

NB: This post will form part of the restructured Executive Management Committee and the duties, responsibilities and post designation are subject to change.

Requirements:

  • A doctoral degree
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications
  • Ten years’ relevant management and leadership experience in student services/development, five of which must have been at Executive or Senior Management level in a comparable institution
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse, academic, socio-economic, cultural, ethnic and disabilities backgrounds of TUT students
  • A demonstrated understanding of South African policy, legislation and good practice relevant to students in higher education
  • Effective written and verbal
  • communication skills
  • Proven leadership and management skills in a diverse and challenging environment.
