EngenderHealth provides continuing technical support to the Government of Jharkhand and local NGOs to build capacity in implementing a comprehensive ARSH (Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health) program that aligns with and supports national goals and policies, including the state NRHM Program Implementation Plan (PIP).

The overall goal of EngenderHealth under the project is to build capacity and create a mentorship among the government health officials for the institutionalization of a flexible, comprehensive, district-centered model for ARSH that can be replicated, scaled up, and sustained by local partners in Jharkhand.

JOB SUMMARY:

The district coordinator is EngenderHealth’s representative in the district. S/he will serve as a point of contact, check progress against plans, and identify areas in need of strengthening and technical support. The coordinator will liaise with district officials, NGOs and other stakeholders in the region. S/he will supply strategic input and coordinate the review of work plans, working closely with the program manager to identify needs and pull in technical assistance where appropriate. The district coordinator will also be responsible for executing project activities and conducting trainings.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Report to Project Manager, the District Coordinator is responsible for implementation of the project’s activities in assigned districts
  • Participate in and provide input to developing workplans
  • Contribute to the preparation of the project reports
  • Serve as a liaison between the project and district health authorities and other stakeholders
  • Provide and organize training for Medical Officers (MOs) and Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) in counseling and quality of ARSH services and for outreach workers on demand creation using adapted and approved materials
  • Conduct QI activities, follow up, monitor the result of implementation of the QI tools including Facilitative Supervision and COPE
  • Provide input and work closely with the Program Manager and other district coordinators to develop follow-up and monitoring tools to strengthen the training system
  • Monitor the coaching and mentoring by the trained master trainers
  • Prepare quarterly reports on project implementation
  • Monitor implementation and collect, compile and analyze data
  • Conduct outreach activities as required under the project
  • Other duties as required

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Medical doctor, MPH, MA Social Sciences, Master of Social Work, Graduate with PG Diploma in Rural Development, or at least 5 years experience in RH/FP area
  • Knowledge and skills in adult learning and training
  • Demonstrated experience in working effectively with district administration, district health authorities and health providers
  • Knowledge about modern contraceptive technologies and other SRH/FP issues including adolescent SRH services

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Exceptional interpersonal communication, a collaborative and effective team-player
  • Well organized; flexible, ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Hindi
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Flexibility for program-related travel and adapting to ad hoc assignments if required
