Executive Director EFNA

Work from home, Multiple Countries

  • Has overall responsibility for the management of European Federation of Neurological Associations – but will be supported by an administrator with financial expertise;
  • Works closely with the President and relevant Board Members to ensure that EFNA activities are carried out effectively, efficiently and within agreed timelines, maintaining excellent communication channels and transparency of activities;
  • Will work on a freelance/self-employed basis in consultancy role.

The position of Executive Director [ED] with the European Federation of Neurological Associations [EFNA] is an exciting opportunity for a candidate who has the drive and ambition to work with a developing association on its future direction and strategy. Working with a newly elected President and Board of Directors, the ED will be instrumental in cementing EFNA’s position as the leading voice for neurology patients across Europe, whilst expanding its scope and shaping its vision/mission.

Job Description

Strategic Planning and Direction

  • To work with the Board to finalise the EFNA strategic plan;
  • To create a three year business plan based on the above, work to implement the final strategy within the agreed time frame and regularly update the Board on progress.

Board meetings

  • To organise Board Meetings and the annual General Assembly (and any workshops/events organized to run alongside) – including the preparation and dissemination of all relevant documents;
  • To prepare the Director’s Progress Report for all Board Meetings.

Finance and Funding

  • To maintain relationships with current funders and to identify/generate new revenue streams;
  • To prepare all necessary funding applications, agreements and subsequent reports;
  • To work with the Treasurer and Financial Advisor to prepare the annual accounts and budget – as well as financial updates for Board Meetings;
  • To ensure that invoices are sent and expenses/payments made in a timely manner.

Outreach and Projects

  • To make EFNA more inclusive of our current members and to encourage new members;
  • To formalize links and maintain/nurture relationships with our partners and stakeholders;
  • To manage all ongoing EFNA projects and to generate ideas for new activities/projects which enhance the role of EFNA as the voice of neurology patients across Europe;
  • To work to ensure neurology is represented on the European political agenda by liaising with the EU Parliament/Commission and relevant authorities;
  • To represent EFNA externally when required.

Communication and Marketing

  • Works closely with our Communications Consultant and Board Sub-Committees in producing EFNA publications, e.g. Science and Society magazine, Annual Report, etc.
  • Has responsibility for the development and continued updating of the EFNA Website and developing EFNA usage of social media.

Person Specification

Required

  • Excellent communication skills – oral and written;
  • Excellent command of the English Language;
  • A self-starter who can work on own initiative;
  • Strategic thinker;
  • Must be flexible in terms of working hours and willing to travel regularly.

Desired

  • Knowledge of the European Political System;
  • Previous experience of the non-profit sector.

Salary

An annual salary of €50,000 will be offered for a 4 day week – extra hours may occasionally be required.
