Formulations and Packaging Production Leader

The incumbent will be responsible for the implementation of all necessary EH&S procedures, HR policies and operating standards, to ensure the safe, reliable and effi cient production of quality finished goods.

Key performance areas:

  • Manage the personal and process safety of all people in the F&P areas
  • Achieve and maintain MRPII Class A standards
  • Provide a reliable, capable and flexible workforce
  • Develop budgets and manage expenses judiciously.


Requirements:

  • A BSc in Engineering, Industrial Management or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in plant operations, lean engineering and the management of people on shift
  • 5S-Lean certification
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of packaging equipment and related activities
  • Knowledge of South African labour law
  • Experience in the utilisation of economic evaluation
  • An understanding of purchasing procedures and contract negotiations
  • The ability to understand and respond to customer needs
  • Human relations skills, including the ability to interact with maintenance/operations personnel, labour unions and contracted labour companies, as well as Management and peers
  • Problem-solving and operational decisionmaking skills
  • The ability to identify and fi x root causes of equipment reliability issues, developing new designs or approaches when necessary.
