CHIEF GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER: MINING TECHNICAL SERVICES, KUMBA IRON ORE, SISHEN MINE, NORTHERN CAPE

Leading the Geotechnical Engineering Team, this role will see you provide optimum Geotechnical Engineering inputs for mine planning to maximise return on investment, and also provide said inputs in mining production to ensure safe mine to design. Responsibilities will include monitoring and analysing pit wall stability to ensure a safe work environment, managing the mine’s dewatering programme for effective dewatering, as well as managing budget and costs within the required framework.

You will need a BSc Honours in Engineering Geology, or a BEng (Mining) or BEng (Civil) degree, coupled with 8-10 years’ relevant experience, in order to be considered for this career opportunity. Essential requirements are a valid Code 08 driver’s licence and registration with ECSA/SACNASP, while a postgraduate qualification in Geotechnical Engineering and a Rock Engineering Certificate of Competence would both be considered advantageous.
