Regional Maintenance Planner Tanzania

African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine seeks to employ an experienced Regional Maintenance Planner responsible for training, developing and mentoring planning staff to ensure that the functions are effective and achieve the purpose. The incumbent will be responsible to optimise ABG maintenance performance by using best practices in maintenance planning and scheduling techniques and to train planners to effectively use the Pronto maintenance management system.

KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Demonstrated commitment to work to all ABG’s policies and procedures including the maintenance planning, scheduling and work flow procedures.
• Increase equipment availability and reliability by minimising equipment breakdowns / unplanned work and preparing and maintaining accurate plans and schedules.
• Report statistics from computer-based information such as the Maintenance Measures (KPIs) and monthly maintenance budget and also forecasts any major expenses for coming months.
• Provide ongoing training to area personnel and less experienced Planners in the Planning & Scheduling, Equipment Register, Work Orders and Stores issuing modules within Pronto
• Liaising and interfacing with contractors, operations personnel, construction and management regarding planning and scheduling activities.
• Prepare medium and long term maintenance plans in consultation with Maintenance Supervisors, Maintenance Foreman, Mining personnel, and Inventory & Stores personnel.
• Resources
• Liaise with stores to continually establish materials and spares leveling strategies.
• Liaise with suppliers to ensure the availability of parts and components.
• Liaise with contractors, as required, to obtain competitive prices for any external services and provide scopes of work for such services in line with ABG policy, (does not include authorisation of contracts).
• Maintain the integrity of the Maintenance Database in the Pronto system, ensure the master data including equipment register and equipment details are up to date.
• Establish a library of standard work packages for recurring work which includes BOMs and task lists.
• Audit plant information from technical manuals, drawings and directly from components (serial numbers, dimensions).
• Audit Work Order completion information.
• Assist with the provision, review and analysis of maintenance KPI’s, budget reports and other relevant information.
• Assist with the preparation of the annual maintenance budget.
• Compile detailed shutdown work packages for shutdowns with a duration of eight (8) hours or more.
• Maintain the underground technical library and drawing register.
• Assist in the creation of Bills of Materials and job task lists.
• Ensure no skills monopolies develop in the maintenance planning section and sufficient talent is being developed to cover leave rotation requirements.
• In a consultative approach, develop maintenance planning techniques, practical tools, processes and training aids which align with ABG business processes.

PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES

Education Requirements:
• Diploma / certificate in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or;
• Trade qualification – Mechanical Fitter / Electrical & Instrumentation
• Planning qualification

Experience Requirements:
• At least 10 years in a planning function
• Microsoft Word Suite of Products – Word, Project, Excel & Access
• Computerised Maintenance management Systems – Ellipse, Pronto, MIMS, SAP PM, Oracle
• Ability to train and pass on knowledge
