WATER AND HABITAT PROJECT MANAGER IN INDIA

Responsibilities and activities:-
In her/his capacity as Water and Habitat Project Manager, s/he will: Manage a water, sanitation and hygiene project in 10 schools of Bijapur district; Advise the Water and Habitat team members on all aspects related to social development; Supervise technically the implementation of all hygiene promotion activities in the district.

1 - Context understanding and integration:-
Mastering ICRC identity, WatHab local strategy and humanitarian, social and operational contexts in areas of operation Develop, maintain and share with his supervisor an updated contextual knowledge of the area(s) of operation Establish and maintain regular contact with local stakeholders (IRCS, communities, traditional, administrative, and technical authorities, NGOs) Contribute to the continuous assessment and monitoring of population' public health conditions Conduct technical assessments according to the identified needs Participate to the to the water and habitat department' strategy' development

2 - Operational management of WatHab projects:-
Knows the Water and Habitat unit's yearly planning documents at the Sub-Delegation level Define and propose relevant projects to tackle identified problems Participate to general assessments and conduct detailed project' technical assessments Establish and maintain the projects documents (planning, narrative, budget) Define the projects implementation strategy and provide all necessary technical guidance to the field based teams Implement the WatHab project in an integrated manner with other operational departments in terms of planning, resource allocation, shared objectives, etc Monitor the operation' relevance and adequacy with respect to the context' evolution and project documents (indicators, baselines, objectives…) Provide constructive criticism on program and projects strength and weaknesses; respond proactively to lessons learnt

3 - Logistic, financial, and administrative management of WatHab projects:-
Know and respect the administrative, financial, and logistic procedures of the ICRC Participate to the writing of Allocation of Expenditure request Identify the project's needs in resources, either internal or external. Whenever necessary, participate to local partners and contractors’ identification Participate to tender processes in collaboration with logistic and administration under the direct supervision of the WatHab Program Manager or, in her/his absence, the WatHab Coordinator Contribute to the writing of contracts
Establish procurement plans in collaboration with logistic department Initiate and follow-up material Requisition Orders Assist the logistic department in managing the WatHab warehouse and material Monitor project expenditures and report to the WatHab Program Manager or, in her/his absence, the WatHab Coordinator Communicate Projects' monthly fund request to the WatHab Program Manager

4 - Human resources management:-
Establish field based staff's job descriptions and run recruitment process under the supervision of the WatHab Program Manager or, in her/his absence, the Head of Sub-Delegation in close coordination with the Human Resources department Organize and coordinate the project team's schedule and workplan Conduct annual WatHab staff’ qualification exercises Reinforce WatHab teams members' technical and managerial capacities

5 - Coordination and representation:-
Represent the institution ICRC at any time and act accordingly Present ICRC identity to all WatHab interlocutors Conduct regular meetings with WatHab stakeholders at local level (ONS, communities, traditional, administrative, and technical authorities, NGOs) If requested, participate to internal coordination meetings at the Sub-Delegation level Share WatHab findings and lessons learned with his direct supervisor and other ICRC departments Develop and maintain a close collaboration with logistic and administrative departments

6 – Institutional and internal reporting:-
Timely provide his project's contribution to the Weekly operational report (WOR) Use Water Project Assistant Software to manage and report on a monthly basis about the projects he is in charge of. Provide Water Project Assistant' monthly progress reports to his direct supervisor Transmit monthly or bimestrial activity reports to his direct supervisor Provide all necessary ad hoc reports (field mission, general and technical assessments…) Provide and record Minutes of Meetings.
