Associate, Advisory Services (Guangzhou)


The Associate, Advisory Services has a central role in the BSR Guangzhou office. Emphasizing project execution, creativity, and leadership, the Associate strengthens the entire team while learning key skills to increase personal and management responsibilities in the future. They will report to the Guangzhou Advisory Services Manager.

Responsibilities


Project Execution

  • Assigned research, writing, and logistical tasks according to deliverables created at project inception.
  • Serve as an active team member, creating suggestions and ideas for team members to promote mutual learning and network creativity.
  • Take leadership for project creation by identifying and scoping new projects that serve previously unmet client needs.
  • Establish role as a value-add in China projects, adding knowledge, energy and on the ground experience to any team.

Business Development

  • Contact potential clients and member companies to develop business opportunities, with a particular focus on consulting work
  • Create project proposals and carry through negotiations to contract signature
  • Build and maintain effective communication with member companies operating in the region

Work Emphases

  • Emphasis on leadership: How to develop project creation and leadership skills to develop into an effective, independent project leader.

Qualifications


NOTE: Only candidates committed to long-term superior work and having the traits below will be considered:
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years relevant work experience in a consulting or business development; work with multinational business or government clients preferred.
  • 2-3 years of project management experience.
  • CSR/Sustainability content experience preferred, including environmental, labor and/or health & safety.
  • Ability to follow business development leads, and work with clients to establish needs and carry projects into the implementation stage.
  • Native written and spoken English, Mandarin Chinese proficiency preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, for working with both internal and external clients.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to meet stringent deadlines, communicate progress on projects and work with managers to coordinate multiple projects concurrently.
  • Capacity to work and thrive in a growing, fast-paced, entrepreneurial organization with a collaborative environment.
  • Willingness to undertake business travel (15-30% time).
