Canada Research Chair (Tier II) Molecular Imaging Probe Design and Radiochemistry

Canada Research Chair (Tier II)
Molecular Imaging Probe Design and Radiochemistry
The College of Arts and Science at the University of Saskatchewan invites applications for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Molecular Imaging Probe Design and Radiochemistry.  We are seeking an individual who will develop vision and leadership as we open a new cyclotron research facility at the University of Saskatchewan.
The ideal candidate will have earned a PhD in Chemistry or a closely related discipline within the last ten years, is emerging as a nationally or internationally recognized scholar demonstrating a strong potential for attracting competitively awarded research funding, and has experience in interdisciplinary research partnerships. The successful candidate will have an exceptional track record of research related to radioisotope labeling and imaging in biological systems.  This research may include radiopharmaceutical design and synthesis for positron emission tomography, metabolic tracer development for animal or plant systems, or a related field bridging the chemical and life sciences through functional imaging.
The selected candidate will be appointed in the Department of Chemistry (http://artsandscience.usask.ca/chemistry) at an academic rank commensurate with experience, and will be nominated for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair.  The Canada Research Chairs Program stands at the center of a national strategy to make Canada one of the world's top countries in research and development (www.chairs-chaires.gc.ca).  The Chair will contribute to undergraduate and graduate education and training.
The University of Saskatchewan and the College of Arts and Science are committed to elevating the university’s national and global research standing, and to building on strength in molecular imaging and structure determination.  The University of Saskatchewan campus integrates Canada's synchrotron, the Canadian Light Source (www.lightsource.ca); a comprehensive array of human, veterinary, and agricultural research and teaching programs; the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO‐InterVac;  www.vido.org) with its level 3 containment facilities; and National Research Council and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada research centres.
The University of Saskatchewan (www.usask.ca) is located in Saskatoon, at the edge of the South Saskatchewan River.  To learn about the College of Arts and Sciences visit http://artsandscience.usask.ca.
Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply by July 20, 2012; however, applications will continue to be accepted until the position is filled.  Please send a curriculum vitae, letter of introduction, contact information for three referees, a research summary, and a statement of teaching interests, in confidence, to:
