About ENTSO-E

ENTSO-E is the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity, founded in December 2008. ENTSO-E coordinates the cross-border system operations, system development and electricity market activities of 41 transmission system operators (TSOs) across 34 countries. ENTSO-E has been assigned important tasks in the EU’s Third Internal Energy Market legislative package, which entered into force in March 2011, namely the development of network codes and of network development plans.
Due to an internal move the Secretariat is looking for a Communications Advisor.

General position description

The successful applicant will be responsible of ENTSO-E’s communications portfolio and report to the Corporate Affairs Manager, while also cooperating closely with other staff of the Corporate Affairs Department and the Secretariat’s staff across all departments. The communications portfolio broadly encompasses all of ENTSO-E’s activities with regards to press, coordination of ENTSO-E’s in-house publications, managing ENTSO-E’s communication agencies, as well as Member communication. Moreover, the Communication Advisor is responsible for compiling and releasing ENTSO-E’s annual report, according to Regulation (EC) 714/2009.
While secondment from one of ENTSO-E’s member TSOs is the Secretariat’s preferred solution, the position is also open to external candidates. The successful candidate is expected to work on a full-time basis at ENTSO-E’s Brussels-based Secretariat. Some travelling across Europe may be required.

Specific responsibilities and tasks

External communication & press

  • Maintenance of an active relationship with media representatives in Brussels and from across Europe. Drafting of press releases, stakeholder announcements, editorials and similar copy;
  • Technical drafting of reports and publications or editorial role and contribution;
  • Drafting of ENTSO-E’s Annual Report;
  • Supporting ENTSO-E’s staff in the production of the association’s periodic and non-periodic publications (outlook reports, ten-year network development plan, Memo, etc.) and managing publication and distribution including the ENTSO-E corporate website;
  • Organisation and management of press conferences;
  • Events development.

Internal communication

  • Contributing to monthly member newsletters;
  • Enhancing the effectiveness of the ENTSO-E Network of Communication Experts.

Other tasks

  • Reviewing and improving internal communication policies;
  • Some administrative tasks will be required.

Profile

  • Completed higher education in a related field, such as corporate communication journalism, or communication;
  • Three to five years of work experience in a relevant field, either as a communications expert with one of ENTSO-E’s members or as a communications professional in an EU-related context (industry association, international organization or communications consultancy);
  • Very strong drafting skills and excellent command of the English language (written and spoken);
  • Attention to detail is indispensable;
  • The ability to adjust technical content to different target groups and different type of media;
  • An interest in European energy policy;
  • Some project management experience and the ability to handle several projects in parallel with the support of external service providers and to organize resources;
  • The ability to work within a multinational and multicultural professional environment;
  • Prior work experience with one of ENTSO-E’s member companies is a plus. Any additional European languages are a plus.
