THE ROLE:
As Legal Counsel you will report to the Volcano Europe Managing Director with a dotted line to the General Counsel, Volcano Corporation, and form part of the Volcano Europe BVBA-SPRL (VE) Management Team. VE operates in 48 jurisdictions.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide solicited and unsolicited legal advice on the VE business operations for all the jurisdictions where VE has a direct or indirect presence. Serve as a strategic partner of the VE Management Team in identifying and evaluating business risks, proposing solutions to these risks, and the implementation of procedures etc. to mitigate these risks;
  • Creating processes and procedures to ensure appropriate legal review of appropriate business matters. Responsible for educating and increasing the “legal awareness” within VE;
  • Where applicable draft, negotiate and review the VE agreements, including the distribution, marketing agreements and agency agreements. Additionally provide legal advice in the matters of competition law and general commercial law;
  • Consulting on regulatory legal issues, assist in reviewing labeling, marketing, and other materials for compliance with other regulatory requirements, and ensure marketing and sales strategies comply with myriad of requirements;
  • Identifying and managing outside legal counsel, including consolidation to key firms where appropriate. Be the ‘Budget Manager’ for all VE external legal expenses.
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
  • Qualified lawyer, c7yrs+ exp;
  • Solid training/experience gained at a respected law firm;
  • European experience gained in-house; healthcare/medical/pharma sector experience is a requirement;
  • Fluent English essential. Other European language skills desirable;
  • Commercially minded, confident and willing to adapt;
  • Strong communication skills.
