Energy Advocacy Officer - Cooperatives Europe | Brussels


The energy advocacy officer will be in charge of the following tasks :
  • Co-ordinate and develop an appropriate EU energy advocacy strategy for cooperative enterprises;
  • Co-ordinate, facilitate and develop the activities of the energy working group;
  • Be they key person for Cooperatives Europe within the REScoop 20-20-20 project;
  • Initiate relationships with relevant interlocutors within the EU Institutions (EU Commission, EU Parliament, EU Council);
  • Create a network of cooperative energy experts and build partnerships/alliances with key external stakeholders;
  • Develop joint communication initiatives/campaigns with members and provide input and content for communication activities on energy related issues;
  • Co-ordinate the development and implementation of European pilot projects in the field of energy & environment;
  • Organise visibility events around energy cooperatives (e.g. during EUSEW);
  • Assist the president of the European Federation REScoop.eu in the co-ordination of the activities of the federation.
The energy advocacy officer will report to both organisations: Cooperatives Europe and REScoop.eu.
The applicant will need to meet the following criteria:Essential skills:
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely and to facilitate a small working group;
  • Good project management skills;
  • An excellent command of English, both written and spoken;
  • Ability to work on own initiative/manage own workload.
Desirable skills:
  • Knowledge of energy & environment policies and practices at national (and possibly at European level) with possible practical experience;
  • Knowledge of the cooperative landscape, in particular in energy;
  • Knowledge of European affairs in general;
  • Additional languages, French in particular.
