UNEP is seeking candidates for the position of
Director, New York Office/Secretariat of the Environment Management Group (EMG)
Based in New York Office, the Director will work under the direction of the UNEP Executive Director.
The Director will be responsible for the UNEP New York Office and take the lead in coordinating and overseeing the preparation of reports presented to the Economic and Social Council, the General Assembly, its subsidiary bodies and other policy-making organs, as well as contributing to the formulation of the Organization’s overall strategies and policies by participating in various UN committees. Additionally, the Director will act as Chief, Secretariat of the EMG, contributing to the development of strategic system-wide approaches to inter-agency coordination in environment and human settlements. He/She will be responsible for formulating and implementing the work programme and undertaking tasks necessary for the effective functioning of these entities.
The Director must have extensive experience and knowledge of environmental and sustainable development agenda, possess strong leadership, managerial, and highly developed diplomatic and public policy skills. Experience at the international level as well as policy negotiations and knowledge of multilateral bodies is required.
