Intern - Program Advancement - Climate Change Adaptation


The Climate Change Adaptation Intern will work closely with the Director for Natural Resource Management on the Program Advancement team at Pact headquarters in Washington, DC. The Intern will be part of a small team building out Pact’s strategic approach to climate change adaptation. Specifically, he/she will conduct research, synthesize information, and assist with the development of a participatory community-based vulnerability assessment and planning tool. The Intern will interact with others throughout the organization on a regular basis.
This may be a part-time or full-time (up to 40 hours per week), temporary position for up to 4 months with a target start date in late January or early February.
This is an unpaid position and applicants must be participating in a university-sponsored work study or fellowship, or receiving course credit for the internship.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities may include:
• Conduct desk research on existing adaptation frameworks, strategies and tools;
• Compile and synthesize information on current trends, lessons learned and best practice in community level vulnerability assessment and planning;
• Identify and track related work being done by peer organizations;
• Assist with needs assessment and gap analysis;
• Prepare materials and draft text for group review;
• Participate in related meetings and conference calls;
• Participate in external events and consultations.

• Creative and analytical thinker;
• Detail oriented and focused on quality of work;
• Demonstrated interest in international development;
• Demonstrated interest in climate change or environmental issues.
Education and Experience required:
• Progress towards a university or graduate degree in international development, environmental science, anthropology, regional studies, or related field;
• Some experience in a developing country context strongly preferred;
• English fluency required.
