1. Description of duties
The Middle East Faculty (MEF) Research Advisor reports to Chief MEF and supports the academic activities of the MEF by devising and implementing the various academic modules that comprise the ten week course. Serves as Faculty Advisor to the committee while the course is in session. Conducts general research related to MD/ICI security issues. Supports NATO Outreach efforts. Serves as Faculty Advisor to the committee while the course is in session. Conducts general research related to MD/ICI security issues. Supports NATO Outreach efforts. The post incumbent is responsible for:
- Developing and maintaining expertise in MD/ICI areas related to the MEF Academic Programme. In this expert function, design, prepare and execute Study Periods and/or Short Courses and related activities, including:
- Preparation of Syllabi, Instructional Guides and other course material, including reading, lecturers’ biographies and consolidation techniques.
- Acting as a moderator during post-lecture discussion periods.
- Arranging for/hosting lecturers and producing post lecture evaluations and a study period review.
- Acting as a moderator during post-lecture discussion periods.
- Arranging for/hosting lecturers and producing post lecture evaluations and a study period review.
- Instructing/briefing other Faculty Members.
- Developing, planning and implementing new Short Courses or academic activities as directed.
- Developing, planning and implementing new Short Courses or academic activities as directed.
- Preparing and presenting lectures and briefings on topics included in the Syllabus or other topics as required.
- Assisting in planning, supervising and conducting College-sponsored activities, including symposia, workshops, exercises and meetings, conferences, and seminars.
- Representing the College at international symposia, scientific fora and related meetings by delivering lectures and writing reports.
- Conducting general research related to MD/ICI security issues, coordinating with Research Division planning.
- Directing the academic activities of a committee as outlined in the Course Syllabus.
- Providing guidance and advice to Course Members on academic and other matters.
- Assessing and evaluating the Course Members and preparing written reports on them.
- Supporting NATO’s outreach efforts by conducting academic education and research visits to the region.
- Undertaking Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) assignments both within and outside NATO boundaries.
- Undertaking other related duties as directed.
