Policy Analyst, REMIT Implementation


The purpose of this role is to contribute to implementing the arrangements necessary to enforce the prohibitions set out in the Regulation of wholesale Energy Market Integrity and Transparency (REMIT).  REMIT prohibits market participants trading wholesale gas or electricity products from using inside information or manipulating or attempting to manipulate wholesale energy markets.
You will be expected to provide input into specific elements of the REMIT implementation work, including developing elements of a framework for market monitoring under REMIT. You may also represent Ofgem at industry and European fora, including ACER working groups and task forces.
Key Requirements:
  • Good analytical skills, with the ability to apply to real-world problems and experience in designing and applying quantitative or qualitative analysis to support robust decision making.
  • Experience of building constructive and productive relationships, internally and externally.
  • The ability to communicate effectively to a range of internal and external audiences and to communicate complex issues to a range of audiences.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and to contribute to a sustainable, high-performing team environment.
  • The ability to apply good practice project management, in support of the efficient operational management of both your team and Ofgem more widely.
  • An understanding of the operation of electricity/gas and/or financial markets, and the ability to build and maintain a detailed knowledge of particular areas of relevance to your work.
