Priority Sector Development Component Leader, Ethiopia

ASI is seeking a Priority Sector Development Component Leader for a DFID funded Private Enterprise Programme in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This programme aims to support private sector development by: (1) improving firms' access to finance (the "access to finance" pillar) and (2) addressing market and government failures in identified priority sectors – horticulture, leather/livestock and textiles.
This position is contingent upon ASI being awarded a contract.

The Priority Sector Development Component Leader is responsible for thought leadership in designing and implementing the sector development aspects of the programme in close coordination with an Access to Finance Component Leader. Coordination with government counterparts, implementing partners and regional offices is a critical function of this role.

Responsibilities/Skills:
  • Influencing government and industry sector actors at different tiers of administration.
  • Designing and delivering sector-focused value-chain interventions in relevant sectors.
  • Leading and overseeing research, technical assistance, lobbying or grant funding related to priority sector development.
  • Facilitating investment in priority sectors. 
  • Tailoring interventions to ensure integration of women in private sector development.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or higher in respective technical or business/financial fields and at least 8 years of relevant experience or a BA/BS in related technical field with 10 years of experience.
  • Relevant experience must be in providing leadership and managing highly complex technical or financial interventions related to their field of expertise.
  • Experience relevant to accomplishment of the cross-cutting objectives in the contract including gender and "green growth".
  • Strong writing and oral presentation skills.
  • Excellent English and fluency in Amharic is desirable.
