Professor: Clinical Coordinator for Rural Health (contract appointment: 3 years) – Ref.: H1211-024
Duties and responsibilities:
  • Develop a structured Community-based Education & Service Learning (CBE & SL) program for all undergraduate programs in the Faculty.
  • Identify and ensure relevant community-based locations and partners in collaboration with faculty representatives for CBE & SL.
  • Responsible for communities to get involved to participate effectively.
  • Roll out the CBE & SL to rural and other environments within a certain time frame.
  • Promote Engagement Scholarship.
  • Coordinate Community Engagement and Service Learning activities within the Faculty of Health Sciences.
  • Execute and coordinate the CBE & SL research activities within the Faculty of Health Sciences by taking the lead.
  • Liaison and support of community engagement and service learning-activities of other faculties and the office of Community Engagement.
  • Coordinate supervision in areas in liaison with program representatives.
Inherent requirements:
  • A relevant degree in health professions.
  • An NRF rating of C1 (preferably) or C2 or higher or equivalent status is elected.
  • A proven research record of relevant publications in accredited journals.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience in primary health care and development and implementation of health promotion interventions in the South African context.
Recommendation:
  • A MBChB qualification.
