The Program Manager – Essential Medicines for Gujarat will be responsible for implementing the scale-up strategy for improving access to zinc and ORS in the state of Gujarat across the public and private sectors. This work will focus on demand generation as well as supply-side interventions, including engaging with the state government, other development partners and the private sector players in service delivery to achieve the development objective of establishing zinc and ORS as the new norm for diarrhea treatment in Gujarat.

The Program Manager will be expected to:
- Expand distribution and sales of ORS and zinc products in rural areas of Gujarat by partnering with local pharmaceuticals and NGOs
- Develop and implement a large-scale demand generation effort in Gujarat that incorporates mass media, social mobilization and inter-personal communication (IPC) to increase awareness and demand for zinc and ORS.
- Develop and implement strategies for health provider training on zinc and ORS in the private sectors.
- Reinforce strong, collaborative relationships with the Ministry of Health and other normative bodies like Indian Academy of Pediatrics and Indian Medical Association in the state of Gujarat
- Manage a cross-sectoral team by establishing program goals, supervising task execution and monitoring project progress.
- Responsible for recruitment, retention and development of a high-quality state team in Gujarat, including providing mentoring support, identifying development opportunities etc.
- Co-ordinate with other local and international development partners to leverage complimentary expertise, funding and/or relationships.
- Manage a large program budget with appropriate financial reporting.
- Distill strategic documents into operational plans and ensure execution against stated goals.
- Report on an ongoing basis on project progress to the donor and for internal management.
- Draw on CHAI’s global and local expertise in demand generation and supply-side engagement proactively and work in a collaborative manner with cross-cultural teams.

- Fluency in English & Hindi
- Minimum of 10 - 12 years experience in private or public sector enterprise in Gujarat, with increasing levels of responsibility and leadership-marketing or sales experience with a mid-sized pharmaceutical company is highly desirable
- Experience in implementing public health programs with established relationships with the Gujarat Ministry of Health and local NGOs is highly desirable
- Advanced degree, preferably a MBA or MPH
- Extremely strong data management/excel skills; strong modeling skills
- Highly entrepreneurial and with strong self-motivation
- Demonstrated success in coordinating various stakeholders/interests and developing strong relationships in order to drive a process successfully
- Strong problem solving skills and analytical capabilities, as well as creative thinking capabilities
- Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and be effective under tight deadlines and in high-pressure situations
