Project Description:
The contract will cover activities under the access to justice and legal education component of the governance programme in The Gambia in the following fields: 
1. Access to justice:
— design and pilot campaigns on: 
(i) access to justice (justice systems and mechanisms); 
(ii) duties, ethics and obligations of law enforcement agencies; 
(iii) duties and rights of citizens,
— develop and organise sensitisation workshops for customary law stakeholders. 
2. Legal education, research, and training: 
— design and pilot an exchange programme with a foreign university/research institute,
— continuous training for judges and court staff,
— develop jurisprudence and research.

Job Description:

Qualifications:
Qualifications and Skills
• A master’s degree in law or equivalent; 
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is essential
• knowledge of one or more local languages is an asset 

Professional experience
• a minimum of 10 years working experience in fields relevant to the project
• Familiarity with customary law in West African States 
• Working experience in the Gambia/region
• Working experience in EU or other donor-funded projects is an advantage
